Process procedure for professional licensing
In order to be able to work in Austria, the foreign degree must be recognized in Austria. After the applicant has received a confirmation of employment, all necessary documents are collected, certified and translated by us. Which documents must be submitted in which form is decided by the recognition office in each federal state. As a rule, this process takes 4 to 8 months, depending on the state.
Each federal state has its own criteria for the license recognition for a nurse to practise a profession. After going through the recognition procedure for the professional license as a nurse, you will receive either full recognition (as a nurse) or partial recognition, depending if there is significant differences between the foreign and the Austrian professional qualification. If you receive a partial recognition, a so-called deficit notice is issued, which contains the necessary measures to obtain full recognition. These necessary measures can be, theory lessons, practical lessons in individual departments or language deficits. In practice, this is either an adaptation course or a knowledge test. Most often, the decision depends on the possibilities of the employer or recognition office.
